The most recognizable changes to the new Terrain will come in the form of redesigned front and rear end styling, highlighted by updated headlights and the addition of LED daytime lights. The SUV also receives an updated grille, front ducts and body lines that give the vehicle a refined stance and needed confidence boost. Customers will also be happy to know that 3 new exterior colors have been added. These include Marine Metallic, Cayenne Red Metallic and Dessert Sand Metallic (exclusive to the AT4 model).
Interior revisions are relatively minor but will be significant to those who are currently missing the latest technological features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard on all Terrain models to give owners ease of access to their devices through their central infotainment system. In addition, Head Up Display (commonly referred to as HUD) will be available on SLT and AT4 models to display vehicle information, such as speed, rpms and drive mode, directly in the driver’s field of view. From an aesthetic perspective, minor updates were made to interior styling with the addition of new interior trims.
All-New AT4 Trim
Geared towards the off-road with a rugged appearance, the 2022 GMC Terrain AT4 receives an exclusive exterior and interior appearance package including black chrome accents, 17″ Gloss-Black wheels with Goodyear Sport Terrain tires, Jet-Black leather interior appointments with Mojave stitching and of course, AT4 badging throughout. The Traction Select System gives drivers the option to switch between AWD, FWD and Off Road modes to suit varying weather and road conditions. While Hill Descent Control utilizes anti-lock braking to allow for a smooth descent and a front steel skid plate to protect the vehicle’s underbody components. Plus, Trailer/Tow mode is available for those planning to carry additional supplies and equipment.
As noted by Eric Brandt of Kelley Blue Book, “Just about every automaker has a compact SUV in its lineup, and most of them tend to blend together. The 2022 GMC Terrain is one entry that manages to stand out in its crowded segment. It’s a good execution of the GMC brand DNA that is both rugged and refined.”
